Japanese floor lamps
Japan and the lights
Nature has always had a prominent place in the daily life of Japanese people. From the choice of materials, to the choice of the interior layout, all that was needed was a play of light to create the incomparable atmosphere found in traditional houses. At nightfall, the show goes on outside. Between the neon lights of Tokyo and the natural wooden lamps of the small shops of Kyoto, it is a real journey to the land of lights.
Kumiko lamps
Our Japanese wooden lamps will allow you to recreate this Zen atmosphere in the room of your choice.
Our craftsman masters a traditional technique called Kumiko from Okawa. It allows him to assemble the whole of the Japanese floor lamp without nail or screw. We could relate that to a 3D puzzle. The small strips of wood used fit closely together to form the pattern (Hishi). The mastery of this technique requires great dexterity and unfailing patience. The number of patterns and types of wood used offer a great variety of combinations.
Japanese lamp shades
Once the Japanese floor lamp is turned on, the pattern will create a play of light and shadow that will spread from floor to ceiling. It is at this precise moment that all the work of the craftsman is revealed. You will be hypnotized by these fleeting lines, these geometric patterns repeating themselves to infinity. In your living room or bedroom, have fun creating different moods by changing the intensity of the light or even the color. The pieces we offer are unique, you will own a true work of art manufactured by a recognized craftsman mastering a technique passed from generation to generation. A touch of ancestral Japan at home.
